The Reverend W. L. Cottrell, Sr. is a native of Kosciusko, Mississippi, and is presently pastor of the Beulah Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia where he has served since February, 1958. During his tenure at Beulah, a sanctuary of contemporary design was built on 1963. On August 21, 1983 a multi-million-dollar Family Services Center was added. |
| EDUCATION He holds a Bachelor of Theology Degree from the American Baptist Theological Seminary, Nashville, Tennessee; the Bachelor of Arts Degree from Morehouse College, and the Master of Divinity Degree from the School of Religion, Morehouse College, Atlanta, Georgia.

| SERVICE Reverend Cottrell serves as the senior Pastor in the Vine City community and is active in many civic organizations. To mention a few: He is a member of the New Era State Baptist Convention of Georgia, Past President of the New Era Congress of Christian Education, and the President of the Vine City Housing Ministry, Inc., a non-profit organization and private industry to generate new residential home ownership opportunities and to facilitate the preservation of existing housing in the area known as Vine City. Among his honors, he was recognized as "the conscience of the Georgia Dome; the voice of the disinherited of Vine City; 36 years of housing the homeless as the god-father of inner-city ministry; builder of sanctuaries for the family of God." Reverend Cottrell was honored with a citation as an inductee into the Martin Luther King, Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College, February 25, 1993. He also received the 1993 Atlanta Metropolitan Chapter Morehouse College Alumni Association's Achievement Award in Religion.
